Dr. Whitney Christian has over 20 years of experience as a toxicologist and currently serves as the Director of Toxicology and Biocompatibility at Medtronic. He oversees a global toxicology and biocompatibility department and supports hazardous substances and materials of concern compliance programs throughout the company. At Medtronic, he has a proven track record of providing creative solutions for the registration of innovative devices that improve the quality of healthcare for patients around the world.

Dr. Christian received a Ph.D. in Molecular Toxicology from the Department of Environmental Medicine at the University of Rochester. He has more than 50 publications, seminars and invited talks and is active in the development of regulations and standards. He is an active member of MedTech Europe’s Chemicals Work Group and MDR Substances Ad Hoc Working Group, as well as a member of the AdvaMed Biocompatibility Working Group and the Mutagenicity, Carcinogenicity, and Reproductive Toxicity Working Group (ISO/TC 194/WG 6) within the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation.
